I can’t say enough about recurring affiliate commissions. Affiliate programs that offer recurring commissions are some of my favorite.
Why? It’s because you get paid over and over again each time your referrals pay a monthly fee.
I like referring commissions so much that I dedicate my time to creating niche websites that promote these types of products.
Be sure to read until the end as I share my actual process of a niche website I created to promote an eCommerce service with a recurring commission affiliate program.
Why this online business works best for making recurring commissions.
What is a Recurring Affiliate Commission Website?
This type of website is one that focuses on promoting an affiliate product that offers recurring affiliate commissions.
These are my favorite niche websites to create. The reason is that every paying referral continues to generate commissions month after month as long as they remain a customer of the product.
Most niche websites can recommend any number of affiliate products. However, when I build this type of niche website, I like to dedicate all of the content to recommending one product.
In essence, the website serves as generating leads for the affiliate product. The more leads it generates, the higher the chances these leads convert and result in recurring commissions.
Examples of Recurring Commission Affiliate Programs
There are a number of recurring commission affiliate programs out there. A majority of them fall under the SaaS (software as a service) category.
Some popular options include:
What’s great about these affiliate programs is that the products are things that people can use to help their business.
Therefore, they are likely to use these services for several months or even years! That means that you could potentially earn commissions from your referrals for a long period of time.
Why You Should Use the Product You’re Promoting
One of the most important things I’ve learned as an affiliate marketer is that I get the best results when I promote products that I actually use myself.
There is no better convincing someone of using a product than reading or hearing the opinion of someone who has actually used the product themselves.
When I have experience with the product I’m recommending, I can give a genuine review of the product.
I’ll share both the pros and cons. Think about the last time you bought a product. Chances are you researched user reviews to get a better idea of whether it is a good product.
That is the power of being genuine. The great thing about most of these affiliate programs is that they are software.
If you don’t want to use these products long-term, you can use them long enough to learn how they work and who would best benefit from using them.
What I like to do is use any free trials that are offered. During the free trial, I’ll create video tutorials on how to use the product so that I can post them on my YouTube channel and blog posts.
Oftentimes, the trial period is enough time for me to learn the ins and outs of the product.
However, if I feel that I need more time, I’m willing to pay for a month of service.
It’s important to know and like the products that you recommend. Your recommendation will be genuine and your audience will trust what you’re saying.
Trust = more sales.
How I Set Up a Niche Website for a Recurring Income
Getting your niche website up is an easy process. There are only four things you’re going to need:
- Your niche
- Domain name
- Web hosting
Choosing a Niche
Niche selection is already done for you as you want to target the niche that is highly likely to use the product you’re promoting.
For example, one of the affiliate programs I am a part of is SamCart. SamCart is a digital eCommerce platform.
Their niche audience is anyone who wants to sell their own digital products online. Since I have experience with creating ebooks and selling them on SamCart, I chose that as my niche.
I created a website that shares information about creating digital products and when I recommend a platform to sell them on, I recommend SamCart using my affiliate links.
Registering a Domain Name
When I choose a domain name, I still register it as a .com domain extension. I try to keep my domain names short and sweet but to the point.
Don’t stress over your choice too much. Your content is going to be more important. Try to choose a name that is easy to remember.
Get Web Hosting
When it comes to web hosting, you have an overabundance of options out there. If you want an affordable web host for beginners, Bluehost is a good option.
If you prefer a high-quality hosting provider that focuses on speed, I recommend Rocket.
One thing to keep in mind is that almost all hosting providers are also domain registrars.
You can register your domain name with most of them and some even give you a year of registration for free as a new customer.
Self-Hosted WordPress Website
There is some confusion when it comes to using WordPress. WordPress has a website where you can create a free blog.
I don’t recommend using that version. Instead, get a self-hosted WordPress website.
All that means is that you are hosting your WordPress website with the hosting company you have signed up with.
Most web hosting providers offer one-click WordPress installation so you won’t need any experience with setting it up.
If you get stuck, you can reach out to support and they will help you get up and running.
What to Write for Your Website
Content is key for your website. The content that you create is what generates the free web traffic that you need.
Your content is the articles that you write (your blog posts.) I don’t create a new piece of content without doing some keyword phrase research.
I want to know what my niche audience needs help with. In the case of my digital products niche website, I do research on what people search for when it comes to creating digital products.
Any keyword tool will work. A free option is to open up Google Search and use its autosuggest feature.
I type in a keyword phrase related to my niche and Google will show keyword phrases that people in that niche are needing help with.
This will give you plenty of new blog post ideas. Over time as you write more and more blog posts, they will be indexed and ranked in the search results like Google.
When your website begins receiving traffic, it can then earn money.
Maintaining Your Website
Growing a niche website can generate so much free traffic that you won’t even need to rely on social media followers for traffic.
Creating content on a regular basis is essential to the growth of your website. Maintenance for me is creating at least 1 to 2 new blog posts per week.
That is easy to do and requires no more than 2 to 4 hours per week. Even with the busiest schedule, you can get this done.
I worked a full-time retail job when I started my first niche website. Thanks to the online training I followed, I was able to quit that job and work on my website full-time.
I hope that this post served as a good demonstration of how to use a niche website to generate a recurring income online.
It begins by choosing a good affiliate offer that has a recurring commission. Use the product you’ve chosen for at least a month to learn more about it.
Next is to set up your niche website and create content that attracts your target audience.
Finally, recommend the affiliate product within your content so that your website can begin earning revenue.
